The fallout continues from the Kim Kardashian divorce. Yes, after 72 days of wedding bliss (term used loosely here, obviously), Kim K and hubby Kris Humphries are splitting up. In recent days, I've read statements from Kim about why things are over, comments from Kris about how sad he is to lose his meal ticket beautiful bride, and words of 'wisdom' from Kimmy's mom, Kris Jenner, about why her daughter should keep that rock of a ring and not be an "Indian giver" (don't even get me started on that comment).

Personally, I'm disgusted. Not just with the whole circus that is the Kardashian Machine, but with myself for keeping up with it (and feeding the aforementioned machine). But let's be clear on one point: Kim Kardashian and those around her are masters at staying in the spotlight - and making money from it. Until this Kim K divorce, however, the general vibe was positive surrounding the Kardashian empire. Now? It's backlash central. What went wrong? Now that this divorce debacle is in full swing, are people viewing the Kardashian family, specifically Kim, differently? Possibly so. The Hollywood Reporter recently ran a really interesting piece, where so-called 'brand experts' broke down how Kim's brand is morphing in the wake of her split from Humphries. The bottom line? People no longer view her as a rich reality star who is also 'just like us,' a normal person with real feelings and problems. Nope. Now, even previous fans are starting to view Kim as a money-hungry fame whore. If that sounds harsh, so be it. But the fact is, Kim's 'brand' is broken now, and it may be difficult to get things back on track.
Don't believe me? Hot shot 'brand strategist' Linda Ong tells THR that Kim Kardashian is showing that she's "as shallow as people like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan and the train wrecks of Hollywood that we detest." Ouch! But is Kim's brand damaged irreparably? Can she keep raking in the cash now that she's got a bit of an image problem? Kim K fans, time to weigh in: Can she bounce back and get in the general public's good graces again? And if so, how?
