Zander, Mindy McCready’s 5 year old son was found in an Arkansas home hiding in a closet. Zander has been missing for 3 days with his mother. McCready was court ordered to return Zander to his current guardian, Zanders maternal grandparents.

McCready has had a public history of drug addiction, which she has fought in public view. Zander’s father had been charged with the attempted murder of McCready in 2005. With such events in light, it’s no wonder that Zander’s maternal grandparents received custody of Zander. It just appears that at this time the safest home environment for Zander is in fact with his grandparents.
Due to the events surrounding Zander during his disappearance, he is currently in the custody of the Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services until he can be taken back to Florida to the home of grandmother, his legal guardian. As for McCready, as of this time, charges have yet to be filed. In fact, it’s still open as to whether any charges will officially be filed or not.
This entire ordeal is sad and painful and reaches beyond the parents. I am certain, that McCready is in pain and desperate, her act screams of her desperation. I imagine Zander is also saddened and most likely confused. Zander’s grandparents have almost certainly been in a state of worry and possibly even shock. The pain of this ugly event goes beyond the individuals that are involved. The media coverage showed the public the desperation of this act, and desperation is never logical. That mere fact is disheartening to say the least. We have all taken a large sigh of relief with the return of Zander.
