Sasha Grey, retired porn star has parents in an uproar. She recently read to a classroom full of school children at Emerson Elementary, all went really well and the kids all seemed to love her story time. Sadly some parents connected the name and became outraged. The disturbing fact is that when the school received the parental complaints, the school district denied that she had ever been there.

Absolutely great example that’s being set in Compton California, let us shame people for past deeds no matter how hard they are trying to change and be sure to lie in the face of confrontation.

Sasha Grey has been retired for two years, she has gone on to enter into modeling and acting and has to date refused to bare any skin, most likely in an effort to clean up her public image. She was reading at  Emerson Elementary as part of her participation in the Read Across America program. Sasha has become active in supporting education, it’s sad that some people are stuck predominately on past acts rather than seeing an opportunity for their children.

The thing I find in this entire story to be so devastating is that these children had fun and had no clue as to who she was and probably didn’t even know what the porn industry was, until they came home. What I find to be funny is that the parents instantly knew the name. I actually kept seeing little blurbs and had to investigate further as to why people were so upset about this poor girl reading, I actually thought people had lost their minds.

The difference is that when I looked up the name and realized, I still didn’t see the problem. I mean really there were smiles on the face of every child in the room and the book looked like a kid’s book. These people were acting like she was reading the latest issue of hustler or teaching sex education  with sexual props.

Maybe it’s just that I’m not seeing the damage here. What are your thoughts on this issue? I mean would you really be offended and outraged if your children were in that classroom?
