Church Officials Conflicted About Christian Music Star's Lesbian Reveal
Several years ago, the multi-million album selling Christian music star Jennifer Knapp disappeared from the business without any official explanation. There was plenty of speculation as to why she would leave behind such an impressive career, including but not limited to rumors of illness, drug abuse and sexual scandal. Of them all, the latter is the closest to the truth. Knapp recently released a new, mostly secular album called Letting Go and she punctuated her reappearance with an admission of homosexuality, a lifestyle she has been practicing for as many as eight years. Naturally, many members of the Christian media had public reactions to Knapp's news, from knee-jerk revulsion to disappointment and confusion. But as time goes on, the most common stance on the singer's same-sex relations has been emotional conflict. One popular TV minister, who asked to remain nameless, told Ticking Tabloid, "I don't know how to feel. On the one hand, Jennifer has betrayed our moral uprightness and likely confused many of her young fans. On the other hand, she is wicked, smokin' hot. Just thinking about her debasing herself by having carnal interactions with another woman, especially one of equal foxitude, fills me with disgust, anguish and a bunch of funny feelings that are new and confusing to me."
Mel Gibson's Ex: "Not the man I fell in love with"
Following the sudden, unexpected news of the split between actor/director/road warrior Mel Gibson and his long-time girlfriend, the Russian pop star Oksana Grigorieva, intrepid entertainment journalists began hunting for an explanation. Grigorieva was the first to respond, noting that the breakup was amicable and had nothing to do with any of the usual sordid Hollywood relationship dramas. "It is sad, but we just could not continue to live a lie," she said. According to a recent, candid interview, the two fell in love long-distance. Though Grigorieva had already spent plenty of time in the United States by the time she met Gibson, both of them had to face insurmountable differences in expectation. Oksana Grigorieva described becoming enamored with Gibson's dashing, intense screen presence in the 1980's and early 1990's, only to discover that Gibson is now a contentious bigot with chemical abuse issues. Similarly, when Mel Gibson discovered that Grigorieva is an autonomous entity with the capacity for independent thought and not just a loose collection of stereotypes, he found that his love had faded. Said Gibson of the breakup, "What am I gonna do with some Ruskie dame got no fight in her, anyway?"
Jane Lynch Says Marriage to Another Woman Not Gayest Thing About Her Life
Comedienne and singer Jane Lynch has been enjoying an increasing amount of attention and critical acclaim for her many talents and one-of-a-kind presence on screen and stage. She got her start in movies by taking a couple well-received roles in the Christopher Guest films A Mighty Wind and Best in Show, later appearing in the Judd Apatow smash hit The 40 Year Old Virgin. Today, Lynch is a fan favorite on the hit Fox musical dramedy Glee in the role of ruthless cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester. Recently, Jane Lynch announced that she is engaged to her partner Lara Embry, but she was quick to add that having a long-term romantic relationship with another woman isn't the gayest thing about her. "Don't get me wrong," said Lynch, "Having a same-sex partnership with all the trimmings is pretty gay. But, come on, have you seen Glee? I've been out for long enough to know that it doesn't get any gayer than that."
